Tony

Born in England, Tony came to Canada with his parents and brother in 1977. Living his teen years South of Woodstock, Ontario meant that Tony grew up working in Agriculture, including Tobacco farms.

The 1980’s saw Tony move to London, Ontario to attend the Fanshawe College 4-year Architectural Technology program. In London, Tony met many people many of whom he still considers very good friends. It was at Fanshawe that Tony met Barb and it was love at first sight. After several years enjoying the life and times of London and area, 1987 saw them move as a couple to Ottawa and in 1988 were married.

Between 1987 and 1991 Tony worked in several Architectural offices in Ottawa before, in December 1991 joining the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in the role of Architectural designer. Between 1999 and 2022 Tony worked as a Business Analyst for the NRC. Specializing in project management, he supported the SAP-based Project System and Plant Maintenance modules configuration, customization and day-to-day technical support.

Now retired, Tony spends much of his time drifting from one interest to another and some years ago his Grandmother pegged him perfectly as a dreamer; however, Barb will be quick to tell you that he’s a technology junkie. Tony enjoys reading, gaming and travelling in the Class-B campervan.

Barb

Born in Southern Ontario north of London, Barb grew up surrounded by a large family and group of friends. 1980 saw Barb move to London to attend Fanshawe College in the 1-year Health Record Technician program. During this single year Barb met people who would become lifelong friends, including Tony who in 1988 she married.

1981 to 1986 saw Barb work in two Southern Ontario hospital’s Health Record departments. After moving to Ottawa in 1987 with Tony, Barb started work at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The early 90’s saw Barb working fulltime and completing her diploma in Health Record Administration at Algonquin College.

After returning from a 3-week cycle tour in England with Tony in 1991, it was time to settle down.  The new home in 1993 was the perfect place in which to raise a family. During the mid-90’s to 2000 Barb’s primary focus was her family; however, by 2003 Barb was ready for greater challenges professionally and accepted the position of Coordinator of Decision Support at CHEO.

Now retired, Barb enjoys gardening and reading as well as travelling in the Class-B campervan.
